About Adam & I

Adam & I are Adam & Andrea Melia, a husband and wife indie folk duo formed in Nashville in 2012. Capturing the unique energy of current americana styles, while giving a joyful nod to the sounds of the 50’s & 60’s, Adam & I make a music all their own.

After marrying in their home state of Arizona, the singer-songwriter couple moved to Nashville and began collaborating on what would become the Adam & I project. The challenge of starting over paired with the overwhelming talent they encountered in Music City inspired Adam & I to dig deep in search of the songs that would ring true to who they are as a duo, and inevitably reflect how they live their lives.

In Fall of 2013, Adam & I recorded their first full-length album - Adam & I - which released on February 11, 2014. John Apice of No Depression called the LP a “simple, stripped down old-fashioned inspired folk journey brought up to date -- superbly and with discreet panache.”  The album features singles We Have Love and If I’m Taken. No Country for New Nashville's Kurtis Dickerson reviewed We Have Love as “a prime example of the light delight that comes from the trust in one’s companion in the face of despair” and described their live performance as “reminiscent of the playful banter and clever song-weaving of The Civil Wars.” American Songwriter exclusively premiered the music video for If I’m Taken in July 2014, with Music News Nashville calling the track “emotionally powerful.” July also saw the duo release a new stand-alone single, These Days Sunshine which was featured as "New and Notable" on NoiseTrade.

Adam & I spent most of 2014 and the first months of 2015 on their Our House Has Wheels Tour, playing over 70 shows throughout the United States. In March and April of 2015 the duo rented a house in Warrenton, VA to await the arrival of their first baby, and to record a new EP entitled Meanwhile in Virginia. Released on July 10th, 2015, the 5-song EP was critically acclaimed as "some of the finest duo folk-rock, alt-country songwriting I’ve heard in awhile" by No Depression’s John Apice. Adam & I embarked on The Meanwhile Tour, baby-in-tow, in summer of 2015. Hitting 38 states in only six months, the budding family band enchanted their growing audiences, playing a variety of house concerts, universities, and venue shows across the country.

Adam & I returned to Nashville in November 2015 to record their newest EP, Back in Tennessee. The 6-song project released on April 8, 2016 as a follow-up to Meanwhile in Virginia and showcases six brand new selections. Back in Tennessee was made exclusively available to Love Good Music patrons on March 1, 2016, as a pre-release. The effort drew a Byrds' "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" comparison with No Depression calling the songs "countrified oriented, late night journeys through Americana."

The duo has embarked on their third nationwide tour in promotion of Back in Tennessee. The 40+ show “Ride the Bandwagon” Tour will run through the latter part of 2016, bringing Adam & I to house concerts, universities, and listening rooms across the country, including a two-day stand at the Appaloosa Roots Music Festival in northern Virginia. Don’t miss your chance to catch a live performance that’s been described as “sincere, honest, and fantastic artistry.” In the meantime, check out their music, videos, and recent road shenanigans at adamandimakemusic.com and mark your calendars!
